The lighting works great, it doesn't dazzle at all, which we were very excited about. It's actually better than a lot of indoor lighting.

says Lis Gunde, member of Sorø Tennis Association, about the new lighting system.

AT SORØ TESNNISFORENING, NEW LED LIGHTS EXTEND PLAYING TIME

OPTIMIZING LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS

In September, Sorø Tennis Association inaugurated their new court lighting. At 7:36 p.m., at sunset, Mayor Gert Jørgensen pressed the button that turned on the facility's new lighting, which marked the start of the 11-hour long doubles match that was played throughout the night.

To the great delight of the association's members

The new lighting on the outdoor courts is creating great excitement for Sorø Tennis Association members. This means that they can now hold tournaments that drag on, where they previously had to interrupt. Sorø Tennis Association also has the opportunity to hold junior events on Friday evenings such as pizza tennis, night tennis and the like.

Lighting on the courts has extended the season significantly, there have even been days in November when members of Sorø Tennis Association have used the courts, where they previously ended the season at the beginning of October.

About the lighting

At LITE A/S in Nørresundby, they are proud to have supplied the lighting to Sorø Tennis Association. Former sales manager says: “ We are pleased to have found a good solution, in collaboration with Sorø Tennisforening, that meets the requirements for lighting for outdoor tennis facilities. When we create lighting for outdoor as well as indoor tennis courts, we have the requirements in mind, so that we ensure that the customer gets the best possible solution in relation to their wishes and what the court facility will be used for. In addition, we are of course very pleased that Sorø Tennisforening has chosen an energy-efficient and robust luminaire that is modular and can be upgraded over time. This means that the solution will benefit the association for many years into the future..”

Mayor, Gert Jørgensen, also mentions that the new LED lighting “ fits like a glove "in relation to Sorø Municipality's focus and work with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals."

Financing the solution

The new lighting system is, in addition to the association's own funds, financed by DGI and DIF's association pool, as well as the Trelleborg Foundation, which is managed by Sydbank. The lighting consists of nine masts with energy-efficient LED lights, supplied by LITE A/S, which is the installation partner of DTF. The new lighting system on the outdoor courts means that Sorø Tennis Association can now extend the evenings in spring and autumn, and thus extend the season and give their members the opportunity to play tennis after work during the dark months.

LITE ensures optimal light for tennis facilities

Account Manager, Torben Støy has been the primary contact with Sorø Tennisforening regarding wishes and needs. Sorø Tennisforening has invested in class II lighting according to DS/EN12193. This means 300 lux on the court and 70% uniformity. This is ensured through lighting calculations and lighting design, which are prepared before the installation of the light.
